Recipe for Dogs: Frozen Yogurt and Peanut Butter Chocolates

If you want to pamper your dog in a special way, we recommend that you prepare a sweet sandwich, which will not leave a trace: yogurt and peanut butter chocolates.

Although it seems unusual, dogs love peanut butter. Unlike cats, for whom their tongue does not have taste buds to detect sweet, dogs can. But it doesn’t seem to be the candy that catches the dogs in this product.

Peanut butter contains salt, and dogs are not as attracted to this mineral as humans, since their sense of taste, for these specific perceptions, is not as sensitive. This is because, in a natural way, dogs feed mainly on meat, which does not contain this mineral.

The fat contained in this food does not seem to be responsible either, because, although dogs love fat, it is that of animal origin and not vegetable.

Why do dogs love peanut butter?

So what is responsible for our dogs loving peanut butter? The main suspect appears to be protein.

In fact, peanut butter was created by a doctor to create an easily digestible protein-laden product for his patients.

You don’t have to worry about how much your dog will eat with these snacks. A protein-laden diet helps your puppy replace fur and skin cells, something that dogs do constantly. A healthy coat is always a reflection of a high protein diet, while if its coat is dull it is a sign that your puppy needs to include it in his diet.

But a high-protein diet doesn’t just help your friend look great. It is also essential for your immune system. If you are thinking about being a breed breeder, you know that it is necessary that you increase the protein in their diet, so that they remain active and healthy.

In addition to meat, it is difficult for dogs to find a rich source of easily digestible protein. Most vegetarian foods contain starch-type proteins, which are not easily assimilated. Peanut butter is the exception, as it has an easily assimilated protein and not only for humans, our furry friends can also assimilate it.

Many vets advise putting a little peanut butter on certain dog toys as a treat. Besides that they love to play and the game creates a strong bond between owners and pets, the addition of this product in their toys is to pamper our friends in a fun way.

Ingredients:

For the chocolates:

  • 1/2 cup of wheat flour (you can substitute it if your dog is sensitive to wheat)
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder
  • 1/3 of cup of vegetable oil
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened apple sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons of honey

For coverage:

  • 3 tablespoons of Greek yogurt (you can substitute for natural yogurt)
  • 1/2 tablespoon creamy peanut butter

preparation:

  • Preheat the oven to 175 ° C. Prepare six standard muffin cups for baking, using wax paper or oil with cooking spray. Save them for later.
  • In a medium bowl, mix the flour and baking powder. Add the vegetable oil, apple sauce, egg and honey and mix gently to combine all the ingredients. Fill with equal amount of the mixture in each of the six molds that you had prepared and bake until you can insert a knife in the center and it comes out clean, which will take between 10 and 15 minutes. If you see that they are still wet after 15 minutes, leave them another five minutes. Allow all chocolates to cool before topping and serving.
  • To prepare the topping, mix the yogurt and peanut butter, until both ingredients are well combined. Once you have a homogeneous mixture, spread it over each of the cupcakes before serving. You can keep the chocolates for up to 3 days in the refrigerator.
